Final Thoughts
With Phison teaming their PS5026-E26 controller with Micron’s B58R running at 2400MT/s and all of the power optimizations they’ve made they have the fastest and most consistent drive that we’ve ever tested! All of the work of their R&D team and of course a steady supply of 2400 MT/s NAND really shows off the full potential of the E26. Because remember there are already E26-based drives out there, but they max out at either 10 GB/s or 12GB/s. Here we are seeing 14 GB/s read and 12 GB/s write!
This is the type of speed we want to see from Gen5 drives and I cannot wait to see what brands make use of this solution from Phison. Remember this is not a retail product, but rather a reference sample from Phison to show what is possible. Expect many companies to have PS5026-E26 “Max14um” drives on display this week at CES 2024, and a steady flow of drives released this year!
