Lepow’s 15.6″ Z1-Gamut Portable Monitor Overview
What is a portable monitor anyway? Well, a portable monitor is just that, portable. In the case of the Lepow 15.6″ Z1-Gamut Portable Monitor, it as the name suggests, it has a 15.6-inch diagonal width with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a refresh of 60Hz. It weighs in at only 1.76 pounds and is only 0.3 inches thick. If that does not sound portable for an external monitor, we’re not sure what would be.
The construction of the Lepow portable monitor is of mixed material. A metal frame surrounds the edges of the panel while the rest is enclosed in hard plastic. The monitor itself does not feel cheap, and thanks to the material used, it feels light in the hands. Like other monitors, the Lepow name can be clearly seen on the front bezel’s bottom center.
The cover reminds us of a tablet cover. It wraps around the Lepow monitor and attaches with some hidden magnets along the top at the back. These magnets also help prop the monitor up with the cover in a make-shift stand. It took a little bit of reading the manual to figure out how the stand needs to be folded to get the monitor to stand up properly, but once the stand was figured out, it stood up with no issues, well there was one issue, but we can talk about that later.
Around the left side of the monitor are the two video inputs (mini HDMI and USB-C) and the audio output. The audio jack is a typical 3.5mm, which can be used for some headphones or speakers.
Over to the right side of the monitor, you will see a USB-C power connector, the on-screen menu jog dial as well as the power button. The menu dial was not the easiest to use, but there are worse options out there.
Also, on both sides of the Lepow 15.6″ Z1-Gamut Portable Monitor are small series of holes. These holes are where the build-in speakers are located.
