Ever since we were introduced to Melgeek we’ve been very impressed with their keyboards. Last year we took a look at both the Mojo84 as well as the Pixel and we enjoyed both keyboards. Well Melgeek is back with a new keyboard in their Modern97. Like the name suggests this keyboard features a 97-key layout, which basically gives you all the keys you want including a full number pad, but a few keys are removed and all of the keys are close together so you get something that is closer in size to a tenkeyless board. Beyond the size this keyboard has some very attractive colorways, Kailh mechanical key switches, a hot-swappable switch design, gasket mount design, wired and wireless connectivity, and much more! The Modern97 comes in a pretty sleek retail box. On the front of the white packaging it says “Modern97” and on the back there is a full list of specifications.
The box opens up to reveal the keyboard. Getting everything out of the box we have the Modern97 keyboard, keycap puller, key switch puller, a set of 8 extra keycaps, USB cable, 2.4 GHz wireless receiver, and a quick start guide.
All of your accessories are nicely organized in the retail box. The switch puller is quite nice, made of metal, and has the Melgeek logo on it. The included USB cable is USB-C to USB-A and is white to match the keyboard, it is however just your plain silicone cable. The 2.4 GHz receiver is interesting as it is the same Lego-themed one that came with the Pixel keyboard.
