Installation & Customization
To get started with the Polar 65 all you have to do is plug it into an open USB port on your PC. There are no drivers or software to install, Windows will automatically recognize it and you’ll be good to go.
Initially Arbiter Studio launched the keyboard without any software. So to make any changes on the keyboard itself you were relegated to using key combinations on the keyboard. These are included below.
Just recently Arbiter Studio released their beta configuration software, which you actually run from their website. You can head over to https://app.arbiterstudio.com/ to access it. You’ll see a picture of the keyboard and three icons on the side. The first icon allows you to set the actuation point of the switches. You can set it for the entire keyboard or per-key. In this screen you can also set rapid trigger. If you are not sure what rapid trigger is I will explain it on the next page.
The next icon is for your lighting. Here you have a handful of presets and you can set the brightness and speed of the effect as well. Being that this software is web-based I initially thought that I would have to change my settings and then download a firmware image to flash the keyboard, but the changes were made automatically, which was nice.
The last icon we assume is for reprogramming the keyboard, but it is not available yet.
When it comes to lighting on the keyboard it does look quite good even though we do not have see-through legends on the keyboard.
