Corsair K55 Core RGB Overview
Taking a first look at the keyboard we have a full-size keyboard so you are going to get a full compliment of keys as well as a full number pad. There are two different color variants of the keyboard, black and grey. This really only pertains to the keycaps, so on the black version you’ll have black keyboard and on the grey version you’ll have grey keycaps. As you can see we have the grey version. The grey is more of a darker grey, which I actually like a lot.
The main chassis of the keyboard is plastic, which is no surprise given the price of this keyboard. The USB cable is attached and is a simple rubber cable.
Taking a closer look at the keycaps they are slightly convex and have clear legends for the RGB lighting to shine through. Removing these keycaps we find membrane switches, which are pretty common in water resistant keyboards. These switches sit below a opaque top plate which protect these switches and the rest of the keyboard from spills. The opaque design of the top-plate will really make this keyboard’s RGB lighting look awesome.
On the top right corner of the keyboard you’ll find dedicated buttons for locking the keyboard and brightness, four indication LEDs, and multimedia controls. The multimedia controls include play / pause, volume up, volume down, and mute.
Looking at the keyboard from the side we can see by default the keyboard will sit at a slight angle and that the actual keycaps sit pretty flat. There are pop-out feet on the bottom of the keyboard which will give you more of an angle if you wanted one.
Flipping the keyboard over there are four large rubber feet on the bottom which will keep it in place on your desk. The pop-out feet also have rubber feet on them. There are four small holes on the bottom of the keyboard. These allow for liquid to exit the keyboard if you happen to spill something on the keyboard.
