Corsair K55 Core RGB Gaming Keyboard Review

Usage & Final Thoughts

I’ve been using the K55 Core as my main keyboard for the past week or so. Obviously moving from my main keyboard which is a mechanical keyboard there is a difference, but it’s not like this keyboard is not comfortable. It is actually very comfortable and typing and gaming on it feels good. You aren’t going to get that click or tactile feedback like you get from a mechanical keyboard, but the membrane switches and keycaps do give you a satisfying feel. I’m sure many of you have typed on a membrane keyboard at some point. Here is a quick audio sample of what this keyboard sounds like.

As you can see this keyboard is pretty quiet, which does make it ideal for a work situation or something like a game room / bedroom that you might be sharing with someone. The RGB lighting on the keyboard is pretty good as well too, even though it is not per-key it looks good and you are going to be happy with all of the effects offered in the iCUE software. I like that we get multimedia keys on this keyboard as well. One of the big selling points of this keyboard is that it is spill resistant. With holes on the bottom of the keyboard if you do happen to spill something the liquid will flow out of the keyboard. This gives you piece of mind for yourself or if you are picking this keyboard up for someone who is clumsy.

In the world of mechanical and high-end gaming keyboard this keyboard is not that, and it is not trying to be. It is a comfortable entry-level gaming keyboard that is going to look great sitting on your desk. The price reflects that too, you can pick this keyboard up at our favorite online retailer for $39.99. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Corsair K55 Core RGB Gaming Keyboard a 9 out of 10 score.
