HyperX Cloud III Overview
We received the Black version of the headset which is pretty much all black with the metal parts of the headset having more of a gunmetal finish to them. HyperX also will offer the headset in the classic Black-Red where the metal and HyperX logos are red.
Starting with the headband it has some memory foam on the bottom for great comfort. On the top you’ll find an embossed HyperX logo in all black.
The headband its actually made of an aluminum frame that comes out and connects to the two earcups. As I mentioned the aluminum frame has a sort of gunmetal look to it, which I really like. The HyperX logos on each earcup are the same gunmetal color. Pulling on the headband you can easily adjust the headset to fit your head correctly.
Coming down to the earcups these are wrapped in a leatherette finish over memory foam. HyperX is making use of 53 mm drivers, which should bring with them some really good sound. The earcups have a more oval shape than a circle shape, which I feel makes them more comfortable than other gaming headsets.
On the left earcups is a microphone mute button and the wired 3.5mm cable. This cable is 3.93 ft long which is more than long enough to connect to 3.5mm devices. Add the 4.26 ft USB cable you have more than enough length whether you are sitting at a desk with your PC or on the couch playing a console. On the right earcups is a simple volume wheel.
On the left earcup is also the connection for the microphone. I really like that it is detachable as if you choose to use something like a dedicated microphone it is not just sitting there. The microphone is adjustable so you can easily place it is the right spot. It is noticeably larger than the microphone was saw on the Cloud II so it will be interesting to see how it performs.
